Harvey Mudd College is a private liberal arts college in Claremont, CA with a laser-focus on science, engineering and mathematics. Founded in 1955, Harvey Mudd has its roots in the age of technological innovation brought about by the Space Race and the growing emphasis the country placed on educating future scientists and engineers. Today, Harvey Mudd offers top-notch STEM programs combined with a robust liberal arts curriculum involving humanities and the social sciences. Harvey Mudd is known for its clinic program, which tasks teams of students with solving problems for corporations, nonprofits, or government organizations, including Facebook and NASA. The most recent development of the clinic program, developed in 2005, allows student teams to collaborate with their peers in Asia and the Middle East. With only a couple hundred members in each class, Harvey Mudd students enjoy a close-knit community; a group of ten students dubbed the Muchachos plan regular activities for their classmates that range from tie-dye battles to talent shows.
