Pomona College is a private liberal arts college in Claremont, CA, the founding member of the elite Claremont Colleges Consortium. Though small, Pomona has offered its students first-class academics since 1887: there are 48 majors to choose from, not to mention 59 study abroad programs in 34 countries, in which half of students participate. Research is also emphasized at Pomona, where 53% of students engage in research with faculty and more than 200 perform summer research. Pomona’s campus community is a close-knit one: 98% of students live on campus in 16 residence halls, and are involved in more than 150 student organizations. If students are looking for a wider set of options, they can take classes or join clubs at the other Claremont Colleges: Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, Scripps College and Pitzer College (along with the Claremont Graduate University and Keck Graduate Institute). Every year, Pomona students enjoy their versatile Claremont locale with Ski-Beach Day: buses take students to Wrightwood for skiing and snowboarding in the morning, then to Newport Beach for an afternoon in the sun.
