Located in the city of Nashville, TN, Vanderbilt University was founded in 1873 after a donation by railroad business mogul Cornelius Vanderbilt. The private research university is known for its demanding academics mixed with southern charm and hospitality. The university’s 10 schools and colleges offer 72 undergraduate majors, with the social sciences, engineering and biomedical sciences among the most popular.
