For over 100 years, Wellesley College, a private women’s liberal arts college in Wellesley, MA, has continued its rich liberal arts tradition, placing high value on rigorous, creative, cross-discipline thinking. This premier school originally opened in 1870, and is a member of the original Seven Sisters. Wellesley offers more than 50 departmental and interdepartmental majors, with a curriculum that includes a writing and a foreign language requirement. The student to faculty ratio is just 7:1. Wellesley students are high achievers: over 70% participate in an internship while at Wellesley and 86% graduate within four years. The Career Education program provides internship stipends of up to $5,000 for about 300 students each year, and the school’s dedication to getting students to the next level shows: 60% of alumnae work in the C-Suite or as executives within 20 years. Wellesley was the first liberal arts college to join the edX collaborative with Harvard and MIT. A distinctive feature of Wellesley is its Three-College Alliance between Babson College and Olin College, which helps promote interdisciplinary collaboration. Students may also cross-register with MIT and Brandeis University. Wellesley is the highest endowed women's college in the world, with an endowment of nearly $1.8 billion. Outside of class, students can enjoy more than 150 student organizations and cultural centers, including a vibrant multifaith life on campus. Wellesley has a powerful and robust women’s network of alumnae who are noted for their socially engaged leadership. These women include 2016 U.S. presidential candidate and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Journalists Diane Sawyer and Cokie Roberts, former First Lady of the Republic of China Soong Mei-Ling, former Ambassador Madeleine Albright, the late director Nora Ephron and public health champion Ophelia Dahl.
