One of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges in the country, Williams College is located in Williamstown, MA, and was established in 1793 with funds bequeathed by Massachusetts militia member Ephraim Williams. Williams has produced hundreds of esteemed alumni, including seven Pultizer Prize winners, a Nobel laureate, 35 Rhodes Scholars, a U.S. president, over 50 Congress members, and several CEOs. The college today offers 35 majors across three academic divisions (languages and the arts, social sciences, and science and mathematics); the most popular majors are economics, English, history and mathematics. About 40% of students choose to double major, and over 35% of the student body are varsity athletes. Williams’ Chapin Library is home to original prints of the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and George Washington’s personal copy of the Federalist Papers. Alumni include AOL founder Stephen Case, President James Garfield, late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, and former Lehman Brothers CEO and NY Governor Herbert Lehman. The Williams Ephs compete in the NESCAC of the NCAA Division III.
