Located a short train ride away from Philadelphia, Bryn Mawr College is a women’s liberal arts college committed to educating the next generation of female leaders. Originally founded in 1885 as a Quaker-affiliated school, Bryn Mawr now educates around 1,250 undergraduate women and 190 co-ed graduate students. Students can pick from 33 majors, 45 minors, 4 concentrations and even take courses at neighboring schools like Swarthmore College, Haverford College and the University of Pennsylvania through the “Quaker Consortium,” which allows students at any of the four schools to register for courses free of charge at other member schools. Bryn Mawr women are passionate about their traditions, which include Parade Night, where freshman students are showered with candy, and May Day, an end-of-year festival featuring dancing, music and the traditional airing of “The Philadelphia Story,” starring notable “Mawrter” Katharine Hepburn.
