Bucknell University is a highly selective, private university with a focus on liberal arts and engineering. Founded in 1846, Bucknell educates over 3,600 undergraduates with a selection of over 50 majors and 60 minors. All classes, which average a 9:1 student-faculty ratio, are taught by one of Bucknell’s full-time professors. Close to 92% of students live on Bucknell’s 450-acre campus in Lewisburg, PA. Bucknellians can choose from the school’s 150+ clubs, in addition to a thriving Greek scene that claims over 40% of students as members. Bucknell’s 27 athletic teams, known as the Bison Bulldogs, compete in the Patriot League of the NCAA Division I. Their men’s basketball team, which began in 1896 as one of the country’s oldest programs, is a periodic participant in the NCAA Tournament. One of Bucknell’s most famous alumni, Christy Mathewson, was an original inductee into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
