The College of William & Mary is the second oldest college in America, and among the most important in American history. The “public Ivy” has produced three presidents and, more recently, former FBI director James Comey. Its list of chancellors is equally impressive: it includes George Washington, Margaret Thatcher and Henry Kissinger. Though it isn't the nation's oldest college William & Mary does lay claim to quite a few “firsts" – the first intercollegiate fraternity, the first college Honor System and the first school of constitutional law, to name a few. Its campus is located in Williamsburg, VA, a popular tourist destination for history buffs who enjoy the city's preservation of colonial lifestyle. The university’s commitment to service has endured since its 17th-century chartering: William & Mary contributes more than 250,000 hours of community service a year and is a top producer of Peace Corps participants. Its most popular majors are biology, government, kinesiology and health sciences.
