Founded in 1926, Scripps College is an all-women’s liberal arts college that's part of the Claremont College umbrella – which also includes Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Pitzer Colleges. The small private school is located in Claremont, CA, and is known for its stunning campus, which is recognized in the National Register of Historical Places. Scripps establishes a personalized learning environment through a 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio and a three-part interdisciplinary core curriculum which includes self-directed research. If one of the 61 established undergraduate majors and minors is not of interest, students can select a major offered by one of the other four Claremont Colleges. Students can participate in over 41 clubs, including the Claremont Equestrian Team and the Claremont Ballroom Dance Company. Since 1931, outgoing seniors design a “Graffiti Wall” mural that is signed by the graduating class. Another fun tradition includes the serving of tea and snacks every Wednesday afternoon.
