Located in the Sacramento Valley just west of Sacramento, the University of California, Davis was originally founded as a farming school for the California state school system in 1905. Today, Davis’s 35,000+ students choose from 104 undergraduate majors and 99 graduate degree programs, with 38% of students participating in research initiatives. The university’s library includes more than 10 million items, and students enjoy over 800 clubs and organizations as well as over 70 Greek Life chapters. The school is also committed to sustainability: it plans to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025. UC-Davis’s annual Powwow festival is a unique and popular event celebrating Native American people and culture, and the tradition of kissing the “Book Egghead” statue on campus ensures success on final exams. The UC-Davis Aggies compete in the NCAA Division I.
