In 1819, Thomas Jefferson established the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, as the first college to blend the sciences and the humanities. One of the highly selective Public Ivies, UVA is known for its superior academics, with nearly 90% of admitted students graduating in the top 10% of their high school class.
